Call our operator to speak with the Children's Home Pharmacy pharmacist on call.
For new referrals, we meet with you and your child to assess your needs and discuss details, including the optimal IV system to use. If your child is in the hospital, our nurses provide teaching on medication administration, including central lines, before discharge. We assist with discharge and coordinate care with your provider to deliver medications to your home, and we work with home health agencies if you need more guidance within the home.
There is a long list of conditions that we support. For example, we regularly treat children with intestinal conditions that affect their ability to digest food—for example, short bowel syndrome, gastroschisis, and enteropathy. We partner with our Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition Support program, which includes a comprehensive team of gastroenterologists, dietitians, nurses, and social workers who work to restore intestinal health and wean parenteral nutrition whenever possible. We also work with children who have chronic illnesses and need pain management at home, such as children with cancer. Finally, we work closely with our Hemophilia Treatment Center to provide factor therapy.
Our Home Pharmacy nurses train you at the hospital bedside or during in-person one-on-one individual training sessions. You will practice hooking up and disconnecting IV pumps during these sessions, and will receive teaching until you are comfortable performing tasks independently on your own at home. We are just a phone call away to provide guidance and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
We accept a variety of private insurances as well as Medi-Cal/GHPP/CCS, Medi-Cal Managed Care plans, and Medicare-DMEPOS. We also participate in the 340B drug pricing program for reduced-price medications. For specific questions on insurance, talk to a member of our intake team.
