As a part of Stanford Medicine, our physician-scientists lead investigations into the fundamental biology, diagnoses, and care of cardiomyopathy. By gathering data from patients, we can improve our understanding of this condition. Research on cardiomyopathy is leading to new and improved treatments and surgeries for children like yours.
Our research generally focuses on the molecular genetics of cardiomyopathy and how to manage cardiomyopathy and heart failure. In addition, we regularly collaborate with Stanford Health Care’s Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center, another leader in cardiomyopathy genetics and research.
We frequently take part in clinical trials to develop better treatments for cardiomyopathy and heart failure. For example, we are participating in the PANORAMA HF international pediatric heart failure clinical trial to evaluate safety and effectiveness of sacubitril/valsartan (Entresto) for children with dilated cardiomyopathy. As a certified Duchenne Care Center, we are a leader in clinical trials for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. If you are interested in having your child participate in a clinical trial, ask your doctor about current open studies.
