Urology Services

As part of our comprehensive care, we offer the following services:

Urinary surgery

We perform the full gamut of surgeries—from laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic—to diagnose and treat urinary tract conditions. Many of our surgeries are minimally-invasive, which means we can offer more outpatients surgeries and shorter hospital stays. We are known within the Western United States for caring for children with highly-complex conditions, and we offer surgeries at a variety of locations throughout the Bay Area.

While our doctors are well versed in all genitourinary tract surgeries, we specialize in certain procedures, including repairing congenital birth defects within the urinary tract (such as bladder exstrophy, epispadias, and hypospadias), reconstructing the bladder, removing kidney stones and more.

Urodynamics

Within our urodynamics suites at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and at our Sunnyvale clinic, we provide a diagnostic study of pressure in the bladder, complete with fluoroscopy, which allows us to see how your bladder functions from the inside.

Child Life specialists

We want your child to feel comfortable when they visit us. That’s why we have dedicated Child Life specialists at our hospital and our outreach clinics who help your child cope with the stress that can come with medical care and surgery through therapeutic play, therapy dogs, and other developmentally-appropriate activities. You can also access a social services if you’d like help navigating your child’s care.

Bladder boot camp

We offer virtual bladder health education classes aimed at bringing families together to learn how they can improve bothersome urinary symptoms such as daytime or nighttime wetting. You are not alone! Learn more

Fetal urinary counseling

It’s important to start understanding congenital birth defects that affect the urinary tract system as early as possible. That’s why we are part of a multispecialty team of providers who offer fetal urinary counseling. We help you understand your developing fetus’s birth defect and when possible, provide treatment while your baby is still in the womb (as with fetal lower urinary tract obstruction).

Fertility preservation

When children have reproductive tract disorders, occasionally their future fertility is at risk. We offer fertility preservation to ensure your child’s best chance at having a family in the future.

Radiation-free testing for vesicoureteral reflux (VUR)

In this condition, urine flows in the wrong direction and can make it hard for your child to urinate. VUR is evaluated regularly by ultrasound, which produces radiation. We protect your child from radiation exposure with an advanced, radiation-free imaging technique called “ultrasound microbubbles.” It’s not offered at many children’s hospitals. Learn more >

Telehealth
