Research and Innovation

We are proud to offer your child with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) the very latest research-driven care. Our doctors are at the forefront of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and pulmonary hypertension (PH) research. We are a part of national organizations working to improve care for BPD and PH. These include the following:

  • The BPD Collaborative, a national and international group of multidisciplinary teams dedicated to optimizing outcomes of infants and children with severe BPD. We are the only center in Northern California to participate. By participating in research, our team helps create future novel treatments, like stem cell therapies or identifying risk factors that answer why some premature babies have more severe BPD.
  • Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Network (PPHNet), an association of medical professionals and centers focused on all aspects of pediatric pulmonary hypertension. Our doctors participate in formulating national recommendations for newborn pulmonary hypertension care.

Our CRIB Program is continuously seeking to discover new treatments and cures for BPD and PH. The team will likely approach you to ask if you are interested in participating in one of our clinical trials and studies. You also may be asked about enrolling your child in our voluntary data registries, which helps us improve our care.
