Summer Scamper 5k, Kids’ Fun Run, and Family Festival to attract hundreds of walkers and volunteers to Stanford University

The family-friendly event raises funds to support the kids and families at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif.—Registration is now open for the annual Summer Scamper 5k, kids’ fun run, and Family Festival on the beautiful Stanford University campus on Sunday, June 23. Summer Scamper is the largest community fundraiser of the year for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

Every dollar raised provides extraordinary care and life-saving treatments for the hospital’s patients and families, including 2-year-old Armaneigh, who spent more than 300 days in our hospital being treated for dilated cardiomyopathy, a life-threatening heart condition. She is just one of the eight inspiring Patient Heroes who will be celebrated at this year’s event.

Summer Scamper will take place from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the Track House Lot, on the corner of Galvez Street and Campus Drive. Participants can register for the 5k run, walk, and wheelchair division; kids’ fun run; or Family Festival. Every 5k and kids’ fun run entrant receives a race shirt, and all kids’ fun run participants will earn a special finisher medal as well.

The Family Festival will feature music, activities for children of all ages, local booths, wellness exhibits, and more. Special guests from the Stanford University football and men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in attendance to meet and entertain sports fans.

“I look forward to seeing our community join us in support of children’s health,” says Cynthia Brandt, PhD, president and CEO of the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, the sole fundraising entity for Packard Children’s and the Stanford School of Medicine's child and maternal health programs. “Funds raised through Summer Scamper ensure all children in our community receive the expert care they need. Resources must never stand in the way of the best possible health for kids and moms.”

Summer Scamper is hosted by the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health. Since 2011, the event has raised more than $6 million for children’s health. Summer Scamper is made possible by generous support from its corporate sponsors, including Gardner Capital; C.M. Capital Foundation; Perkins Coie; Stanford Federal Credit Union; The Draper Foundation; Joseph J. Albanese Inc.; and Altamont Capital Partners.
