PALO ALTO, Calif. — In the U.S. News & World Report publication of America's Best Children’s Hospitals 2012-13, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has received the highest rankings of any children’s hospital in Northern California.
In the annual survey online June 5 at U.S. News.com/children hospitals, Packard Children’s is the only Northern California children’s hospital with five programs ranked in the nation’s Top 20. Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Neonatology and Pulmonology all received Top 20 recognition. Other specialties making the list include Diabetes & Endocrinology, Urology, Cancer, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics. Packard Children’s is the only Northern California children’s hospital that was ranked in all ten of the pediatric specialties surveyed by U.S. News.
The America’s Best Children’s Hospitals survey is based on a methodology weighing a blend of reputation, outcome and care-related measures such as volume, nursing care, advanced technology, credentialing and more. A detailed description of the methodology can be found online here.
“The U.S. News survey reflects the wonderful regional and national reputation we’ve built in our relatively young history,” said Christopher G. Dawes, president and chief executive officer at Packard Children’s, who noted that Packard Children’s opened in 1991. “These rankings are a very nice distinction and confirmation of our dedication to children and expectant mothers. We proudly share this success with our faculty, staff and community.”
