Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford Hosts a 20th Birthday Celebration for the Community

SF Giants Mascot Gigante, SF 49er alums, San Jose Earthquakes, local performers, civic leaders join together with Packard staff and families to commemorate the occasion

When:  Sunday, June 26, 2011, 10 am to 4 pm.

Who:  Open to the entire community, free of charge.

What:  More than 75 interactive booths, games, arts and crafts, educational activities, skill-building demonstrations, bounce houses, stage performances and food from favorite local restaurants including California Café, Andronico’s Market, MacArthur Park Restaurant, and Fraiche Yogurt. A multitude of giveaways for kids and families including reusable shopping bags, jump ropes, collapsible frisbees, and more.

Visuals:  SF Giants Mascot Gigante and other popular local sports celebrities interacting with children; kids climbing aboard a real fire truck and ambulance; elected officials and civic leaders; stage performances from local bands including PapaHugs, physician-musicians, hula hoop teams, Chinese lion dancers and more.

Background:  On June 10, 1991, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford opened its doors to children and expectant mothers. Since that historic day 20 years ago, the hospital’s exceptional service and historic breakthroughs in transplant, cardiology, neonatology, oncology and more have earned it a perennial distinction as one of the nation’s top-ranked children’s hospitals. After helping so many children celebrate their birthdays, Packard Children’s is now ready to celebrate its own.
