Packard/Stanford Gastroenterologist Inducted into American Clinical and Climatological Association

STANFORD, Calif. — Eric Sibley, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology) at the Stanford University School of Medicine and an attending physician in pediatric gastroenterology at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, was inducted into membership in the American Clinical and Climatological Association during the organization's 123rd meeting October 21-24 in San Antonio, TX.

“This is quite an honor,” said Sibley, “and I’m proud to be a part of such a storied and learned society.” The American Clinical and Climatological Association is one of the oldest and most prestigious associations in academic medicine and research, established in 1884 by a group of physicians and scientists who set about to improve medical education, research and practice in the United States. Its initial concern was with tuberculosis and its treatment by residence in a suitable climate. Over its 126 years, the society has expanded its field of interest to multiple disciplines within the broad scope of internal medicine. Its membership is composed of medical leaders among physicians engaged in academic pursuits, teaching and clinical practice. The American Clinical and Climatological Association provides a forum for the presentation and critical discussion of discoveries in basic research applied to disease, clinical research and medical education.

A Stanford University faculty member since 1997, Sibley directs a basic science research program investigating intestinal development.  He is Chair of the Growth, Development and Aging section of the American Gastroenterology Association and is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. American Clinical and Climatological Association members are selected on the basis of leadership and excellence in their chosen field.
