Dr. Boal received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cornell University. She attended medical school at the UCSF School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Seattle Children’s Hospital. During medical school, she traveled to Uganda for a research fellowship, where she studied the effects of HIV on neurocognitive development in children, and during her residency she traveled to Kenya to study pediatric tuberculosis. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2012. Her clinical interests include early childhood development and global health. Dr. Boal also is the vice chair of pediatrics at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring the Bay Area with her husband and two daughters.
Dr. Brinkley received her Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Biology from Johns Hopkins University, her Master of Arts in Cultural Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University, and her Master of Health Administration from Tulane University. She attended medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s in Cleveland. Prior to joining Bayside Medical Group in 2008, Dr. Brinkley worked extensively in other parts of the world, including Bolivia, Kosovo, and Laos. She also served as the medical director of the Guam Department of Public Health, overseeing two community health centers and practicing general pediatrics. Dr. Brinkley speaks medical Spanish, and her interests include the intersection of culture and health, early childhood development, nutrition, and helping medically underserved people. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and playing board games with her family, as well as reading, traveling, and trying out new vegetarian recipes.
Dr. Chauhan attended medical school at Kasturba Medical College in India and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2017. Her clinical interests are focused on preventive medicine. She speaks Hindi, and outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and traveling.
Dr. Erburu graduated cum laude from Harvard University with an undergraduate degree in history and science, received her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and completed her residency at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was in private practice in San Diego for 17 years before joining Bayside Medical Group in 2006. Her clinical interests include general pediatrics and caring for children with special needs and/or complex medical histories. She also enjoys sharing her years of experience with younger associates. In her spare time, she likes to travel, exercise, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Dr. Gerwein received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Anthropology from Harvard University. After college, she worked at the UCSF Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. She attended Harvard Medical School and completed her pediatrics residency at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center. After her residency, she worked in the emergency department at Boston Children’s Hospital. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2002. Her clinical interests include breastfeeding, nutrition, preventive medicine, and making pediatric care a positive experience for her patients. In her free time, she enjoys baking sourdough bread, biking, spending time with family and friends, and making wheel-thrown pottery, which she has been doing for more than two decades.
Dr. Gupta attended medical school and completed her pediatric residency at India’s Gajra Raja Medical College. She moved to the United States in 2007 and completed an additional pediatric residency at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2016. Dr. Gupta’s clinical interests include general pediatrics and infectious disease. In her free time, she likes to read, listen to music, and spend time with her family. She speaks Hindi and Punjabi.
Dr. Hong graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a double major in psychology and integrative biology. She attended medical school at Hahnemann University School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 1999. In addition to providing general pediatric care, Dr. Hong has a special interest in adolescence and eczema. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She is fluent in Cantonese.
Dr. Huang received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore and completed his residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Pediatric Residency, Los Angeles. He joined Bayside Medical Group in 2010. He enjoys supporting youth in sports and addressing obesity and nutrition. In his spare time, Dr. Huang likes to spend time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys playing sports, especially volleyball.
Dr. Hussain was inspired to become a pediatrician at a young age. During her youth, she spent many summers volunteering at hospitals. After studying at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh, she moved to Boston to attend Northeastern University, Bouvé College of Health Sciences. After becoming a physician, she earned a master’s in public health from Northwestern University and participated in research on asthma and adolescent well-being. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2019. Her clinical interests include asthma and support for breastfeeding. In her spare time, she likes to do arts and crafts with her children. She speaks Bengali and Hindi.
Dr. Jina is a Bay Area native; she received her undergraduate degrees in molecular biology and anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Cohen Children’s Medical Center/Northwell Health in New Hyde Park, New York. Before joining Bayside Medical Group in 2019, she worked as a pediatric hospitalist at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
Dr. Jordon received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. She attended medical school at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Chan Jordon joined Bayside Medical Group in 2016. Her clinical interests include general pediatrics and working with children with special health needs. In her free time, she loves cooking, traveling, and hiking with her husband and dog. She speaks conversational Cantonese.
Dr. Landrith earned her bachelor’s degree with honors in chemistry at the University of California, Davis, and attended medical school at Loma Linda University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her pediatric residency through the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine/Children’s Hospital of Orange County program. She joined Bayside Medical Group as a full-time pediatrician in 2022. Dr. Landrith’s experience as a neonatal hospitalist contributed to her interest in infants and early development. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters, as well as doing hobbies like reading, painting, and photography.
Dr. Masui believes in giving a voice to children who can’t speak for themselves yet and in providing support and compassion for the families in her practice. In addition to her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, she earned a master of public health from San Diego State University Graduate School of Public Health in California, where she also did her residency in preventive medicine. Dr. Masui joined Bayside Medical Group in Pleasanton in 2023. In her free time, Dr. Masui loves to travel and explore the Bay Area with her son and their dog.
Dr. McConlogue received her bachelor of science from Brigham Young University and then attended medical school at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and spent an extra year as chief resident. Dr. McConlogue spent many years practicing on the East Coast, worked in an inner-city clinic, was involved in academic medicine teaching medical students and residents, and later joined a large suburban private practice. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2016 after moving to California with her family. Having spent much of her childhood living overseas, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and four children.
Dr. Mehra spent her youth in Austin, Texas, and started medical school at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine right after high school. There, she realized her love of pediatrics. During residency at UCSF Fresno in California, she felt a pull toward health care policy and went on to pursue a master’s degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health. Dr. Mehra joined Bayside Medical Group in Fremont in 2022. In her free time, she enjoys reading, singing, and dancing. She loves experimenting in the kitchen and sharing recipes with friends and her patients. Dr. Mehra speaks conversational Spanish.
Dr. Mehta grew up in the Bay Area and lived there until she moved to Glendale, Arizona, to get her medical degree at Midwestern University, where she met her husband, who is now an anesthesiologist. She went on to Chicago for her residency at Rush University Children’s Hospital and after that completed a year as chief resident. Dr. Mehta joined Bayside Medical Group in Berkeley in 2022. She appreciates being back in the Bay Area and being close to her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants, reading, and watching movies.
Dr. Militar received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Anthropology with a minor in philosophy from the University of California, Riverside. She also received a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Riverside. She graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and completed her internship and residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. Dr. Militar joined Bayside Medical Group in 2013. Her clinical interests include preventive health services, emphasizing the importance of vaccinations, and addressing children’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two girls. She also likes to cook, bake, hike, travel, and volunteer.
Dr. Moilanen received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stanford University. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2004. Her clinical interests are primary care pediatrics—working with newborns through teens and with their parents. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family in the outdoors, bicycling and hiking.
Dr. More completed medical school at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai, India, and residency training at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange County, California, where she worked as a critical care transport physician. She then operated Kidiatrics Medical Group in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, as a solo pediatric practice for over 15 years. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2017. Dr. More strives to provide personal, individualized care for every patient that is sensitive to the cultural background of the patient and family. Her clinical interests include newborn care, lactation support for mothers, behavioral issues, asthma, ADHD, and teen health. Dr. More is treasurer and an executive board member of AAPCA1 (American Academy of Pediatrics, California Chapter 1), which encompasses 48 counties in Northern and Central California. In her free time, she loves staying active outdoors, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is fluent in Marathi and Hindi and speaks some medical Spanish.
Dr. Perlman received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Rutgers University and completed three master’s degrees at the University of California, Berkeley, in public health, health and medical science, and fine arts. She attended medical school at the UCSF School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. She is a clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and serves as the course director for the UCSF and UC Berkeley Joint Medical Program, which focuses on teaching the art of medicine. She is passionate about mentoring future physicians and serves on the national HART faculty group, where they discuss the meaning of our work. She also serves on the California and American Academy of Pediatrics climate and health committees. Her special interests include development and behavior, learning difficulties, and teaching medical students. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, making art, and spending time with her grandchildren. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 1997.
Dr. Quan received her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore; and she completed her residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Quan joined Bayside Medical Group in 1999. Her clinical interests include general pediatrics and ADHD. In her spare time, she loves to snowboard, play golf, study the Bible, and travel around the world with her husband and three children.
Dr. Ramchandran received her training in biology at Adharsh Vidhyalaya Higher Secondary School, Chennai, India, and from there went directly into an integrated medical program at Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, India. She completed her residency training at Adventist Health White Memorial, Los Angeles. Dr. Ramchandran joined Bayside Medical Group in 1999. Her special areas of interest are child development and preventive medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and going for walks.
Dr. Rico started her path with a focus on science, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. During her formative years, she volunteered on numerous health-related service projects in Latin America and India, which ultimately sparked the inspiration to pursue medicine as a career. Dr. Rico received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She went on to complete her residency at Children’s Hospital and Research Center at Oakland. Supporting humanitarian causes is part of her core values, and she has had the privilege of serving on multiple medical missions overseas. Outside of her career, Dr. Rico has two children, and she enjoys hiking in her free time. She joined Bayside Medical Group in Pleasanton as a full-time pediatrician in 2022 and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
Dr. Rinehart was driven to pursue medicine because of her fascination with the intersection of a person’s unique story and their well-being. After completing her undergrad, where she studied English, she lived in Nepal, where she worked in public health before moving to New York to attend the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She came back to her roots in the Bay Area for her residency at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Dr. Rinehart is passionate about serving her community and advocating for her patients, and she enjoys being close to her family and friends. Outside of the clinic, she spends her time hiking in East Bay regional parks and trying new recipes.
Dr. Sen attended Calcutta Medical College and completed his pediatrics internship and residency at the University of Chicago, followed by a fellowship in pediatric intensive care at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has additional training in autism and early childhood development from the University of Washington Autism Center and the UC Davis MIND Institute. He joined Bayside Medical Group in 2011. His clinical interests and experience over more than 20 years include early childhood development and autism. He is trained in the highly effective Early Start Denver Model, a comprehensive behavioral early-intervention approach for children with autism, and he leads educational training seminars for parents of toddlers and preschool-aged children with autism.
Dr. Shah received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Bombay University and her medical degree at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She completed her residency at the Children’s Hospital at SUNY Downstate Pediatric Residency Program in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Shah joined Bayside Medical Group in 2008. Her clinical interests are skin problems, allergies, and asthma. In her spare time, she loves reading, music, and exercising.
Dr. Sorourbakhsh received her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of California, San Diego. She attended medical school at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed her internship and pediatrics residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, New York. Dr. Sorourbakhsh joined Bayside Medical Group in 2007. Previously, she was a full-time pediatrician in Massachusetts. Her clinical interests include general pediatrics, child development, and preventive medicine. In her free time, she enjoys snorkeling, hiking, listening to music, traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with her family. She speaks Farsi.
Dr. Stevens received her Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated summa cum laude with departmental honors. She attended medical school at Vanderbilt School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center. Dr. Stevens joined Bayside Medical Group in 2007. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children, hiking, biking, and running marathons.
Dr. Stillman Fahden received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she graduated summa cum laude with departmental honors and earned membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She attended medical school at Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University, New York, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her residency at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Dr. Stillman Fahden joined Bayside Medical Group in 2020. Her goal as a physician is to treat the whole child, tending equally to their emotional and physical health and development. Her clinical interests include asthma, eczema, mental health, and primary care for children with complex care needs. She enjoys cycling, hiking, and various crafts, such as embroidery and cross-stitch.
Dr. Strelitz received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego; a postbaccalaureate at Columbia University; and a master’s degree in law studies from UC Law SF in San Francisco. She attended medical school at the UCSF School of Medicine, completed her pediatric residency at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, and finished an additional year of fellowship in adolescent medicine at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2018. Her education and training enable her to provide a wide range of reproductive health care, including the placement of long-acting, reversible contraceptives. Dr. Strelitz enjoys spending time with friends and family, advocacy, traveling, writing, and knitting.
Dr. Tamashiro Tairaku was born and raised in Peru. She fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a doctor when she graduated from Universidad de San Martín de Porres, Facultad de Medicina Humana, in Peru. She then moved to New York, where she completed her residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Elmhurst, New York. Dr. Tamashiro Tairaku joined Bayside Medical Group in 2022. She speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys working with diverse communities. When she is not working with patients, she spends time with her husband and two dogs. Her hobbies include dancing and painting.
Dr. Thaikkendiyil attended medical school at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in India and completed her residency at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Thaikkendiyil joined Bayside Medical Group in 2017. Her clinical interests include asthma and diet management. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, music, dance, reading, and painting.
Dr. Vallis comes from a long line of physicians who inspired him to go into medicine. After growing up in Southern California, he graduated from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, in Augusta, Georgia, before moving to the Bay Area for his residency at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Dr. Vallis joined Bayside Medical Group in Pleasanton in 2023. Outside of work, he enjoys the exciting and vibrant lifestyle of the East Bay. He also spends time in the mountains hiking and skiing with his wife and their dog.
Dr. West received her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from the University of California, Davis. She attended medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her residency at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Throughout her career, she has worked with community organizations such as Covenant House (a shelter for homeless youth) and the Family Resource Centers in San Francisco. Through these experiences, she has learned the importance of connecting families in the clinic to the valuable resources available in their community. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2016. Dr. West speaks Spanish, and her special interests include early childhood development, parenting skills, and preventive medicine. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
Karen Barnes received her Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Resource Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MSN from the University of California, San Francisco. She worked as a nurse in all acute areas of pediatrics while serving on the Acute Care Resource Team at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco. She joined Bayside Medical Group in 2012. In addition to providing general pediatric care, she is interested in helping new parents transition to parenthood, promoting healthy lifestyles, and being a resource for teens. She speaks Spanish, and in her free time she enjoys trail running/ultra running and other outdoor activities.
Marie Newsom received her Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her master of science from the Columbia School of Nursing in New York City. She grew up in Walnut Creek and enjoys practicing pediatric care in her hometown since joining Bayside Medical Group in 2012. She maintains board certifications as a pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care and as a pediatric mental health specialist, and also is working toward becoming a certified lactation counselor. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, hiking, and stand-up paddleboarding.
