Pediatric Gastroenterology
“Helping families understand why something is happening can make a huge difference.”
My love for medicine started when I was just a child. I even have a drawing from kindergarten where I wrote that I wanted to be a “kid doctor.” I’ve always been fascinated by how the human body works. Another part of my motivation comes from my desire to work closely with people. There are many things in medicine we can’t fix, but helping families understand why something is happening can make a huge difference.
I genuinely enjoy working with children because they’re so full of potential. They have their whole future ahead of them, and that inspires me. While it’s tough to see them suffering, being able to alleviate their pain brings me immense joy.
My office visits always begin by asking what worries the family has or what they hope to address during our conversation, so I can tailor my approach to their needs. I strive to meet families where they are, understanding their perspectives and concerns. Speaking directly to the child, as well as to their parents, is really important to me; I think it’s crucial to involve them in their own care.
