“I have the best job in the world.”
I'll never forget the first time I saw a kidney transplant. The kidney was taken out of a bucket, surgeons connected it to the blood vessels of the child, and the kidney came to life right in front of my eyes. It was a thrilling moment.
I like my job because I see the most difficult kidney cases. I do corny joke therapy with kids before a procedure to take their minds off what's happening. I take care of every child as if she or he were my own. A big part of every visit is spent teaching families how to feel comfortable and confident managing their child's condition at home.
In a doctor, you want to find someone who is really smart. At this hospital you're guaranteed to have a smart doctor. You also want a great team because medicine is a team science. I'm surrounded by a lot of really smart people here. The very best medicine that's being practiced anywhere is going on right here.
