Soniya Mehra, MD, MPH

Science has always fascinated me. Even as a kid, I loved learning about how our internal organs work. But it was when a family member needed emergency heart surgery that I was really pulled to this profession. I feel a deep connection when helping those in need. Plus, kids are so fun to work with! They are resilient, hilarious, and hopefulso I look forward to each day.

When I am working with children and their families, I see it as a team effort. I consider the family’s context, cultural background, and family life when coming up with a treatment plan.

I am also passionate about public health. I’ve been heavily involved in trauma-informed care and preventive care, as well as vaccination advocacy. One of my favorite outreach activities has been a “Dance With Your Doctor” initiative, encouraging physical activity as a fun task in young schoolchildren.
