“I approach the care of my patients as a special privilege and responsibility.”
Being a physician is humbling. I recognize the challenges that parents face to care for their children today and work to help them in any way I can. It is especially humbling to see parents deal with chronically ill children, to support them and be their advocates.
I had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis as a child and was cared for by a wonderful rheumatologist with a fabulous sense of humor. He used to joke that I brought the average age of his patients down to 70. He was an excellent role model for me in my work today.
I approach the care of my patients as a special privilege and responsibility. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to care for children and to love what I do. I try to make a small difference in every young life.
