“I treat each child as if they were one of my own.”
I aim to treat each child I see as if they were one of my own. I have two sons, and have been through multiple medical issues with each of them. As a physician, I feel it is important to view each encounter from the perspective of the parent and child. I ask myself, “What would I recommend for my own son?” That allows me to provide the best care possible.
In pediatric orthopedics we are fortunate in that we get to see the results of our work in real time. When I treat a child with a severe fracture or spinal deformity, and six months later they are back to a normal life, I am thrilled to have played a part in their recovery. It is very fulfilling to see the results of improved quality of life and function in the children we treat—nothing compares to that.
