I have always enjoyed being part of a team, and the  Betty Irene Moore Children's Heart Center is a fantastic one. Cardiac disease has no quick fix by a single practitioner: the parents, patient, primary care physician, cardiologist, and cardiothoracic surgeon all work as a team, to turn hope into reality. As the cardiology acute care ward medical director for quality, I help our patients and families make a smooth transition from being in the hospital to returning home.

I feel so fortunate to have a role in the diagnosis of heart problems and counseling of parents in the clinic and our acute care cardiology unit. In every setting, we're able to get to know children and their families, which makes supporting their best outcome so rewarding. As co-director of the Thrive program, we are committed to treating the whole child and family to help children and parents cope with heart disease and live a high-quality life.
